12 reasons why straws are so damaging to our world

It doesn’t have to be earth day to help our environment, once a month can also make a big difference!

  1. Plastic can take a little over 1,000 years to biodegrade. Sources clarify that (most) plastic is not biodegradable
  2. Studies have predicted that by 2050 there will be more trash and plastic in the ocean than fish. You can find the study here (http://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_The_New_Plastics_Economy.pdf)
  3. For this reason, small fish and animalsconfuse bits of plastic for food. Sometimes these animals are the ones that end up in our dinner tables.
  4. Did we already mention plastic is indestructible? Even if we were to burn it, harmful toxins damage our health and environment
  5. For this reason, we should kindly say no to plastic straws when we order drinks
  6. Additionally, an average of five hundred million strawsare used every day, just in the United States.
  7. Many people think ditching plastic straws will be an inconvenience. However, there are several reusable straws options available for us.
  8. If you aren’t ready to ditch straws completely, stainless steel straws by PURE are already available.
  9. Remember, some plastic straws are made with potentially toxic materials that destroy our environment
  10. Even when straws are labeled BPA-free, they can still contain this harmful chemical
  11. Straws are very difficult to recycle. A couple of years ago, an online video surfaced about a resilient sea turtle that had a straw stuck to its nostrils.
  12. Even people get injured because of straw-related accidents.

Let’s change the way we utilize straws and be the change our environment needs. The time is now! Tell all your friends to do the same and share a bright and clean world, with one steel straw at the time.
